Somalian or Nigerian? Its going to be one of them.
An outside chance is Indian/Pakistani or Asians.
Its not racist to point out who these people are, and if they turn out to be Caucasian, I will ban myself from the Riot Act for 6 months.
The North side of Canberra is in serious trouble and something has to be done or else it will get to a point where the problem is just too big to make a dent in.

A week away eating takeawy food sounds like fun until you get to about Thursday, by then you are over it. If I am based in the one spot its easier but when you are traveling to a different place every night with 12-14 hour days then its not so.
Dont get me wrong, I like my job & enjoy the travel but like anything it has its downsides.
Dont you ever, ever dare tell me I am rorting the system.
I reserve the right to call it like I see it. You clearly have little initiative and even less adaptability.
There is nothing preventing you from
1/ Getting all the crap out of the minibar and sticking it in the cupboard
2/ Going to the local supermarket, buying milk, bread, ham, cheese, breakfast cereal and a six-pack
3/ Have the same breakfast for the same price as at home and make yourself some sandwiches for lunch for the same price as you pay at home.
But no – apparently not content with the over-generous work-for-the-dole scheme you belong to (AKA the public service), you additionally expect the taxpayer to fund not just your meals, but even some extra snacks you want to have between meals.

Hey ThatUniStudent, here’s a word you could learn:
fail (fl)
v. failed, fail·ing, fails
v.intr.
1. To prove deficient or lacking; perform ineffectively or inadequately: failed to fulfill their promises; failed in their attempt to reach the summit.
2. To be unsuccessful: an experiment that failed.
3. To receive an academic grade below the acceptable minimum.
4. To prove insufficient in quantity or duration; give out: The water supply failed during the drought.
5. To decline, as in strength or effectiveness: The light began to fail.
6. To cease functioning properly: The engine failed.
7. To give way or be made otherwise useless as a result of excessive strain: The rusted girders failed and caused the bridge to collapse.
8. To become bankrupt or insolvent: Their business failed during the last recession.
And let me add my own:
9. ThatUniStudent fails to understand how sarcasm can be expressed via the written word, and comes across as an Arsehat troll.

It was good to see (I think) that Riotact removed a rather unpleasant post from another thread that likened a woman out having fun at a Civic bar at 2.30 in the morning with a pig. Openly contradicting attitudes like that in discussions amongst men is pretty important – as this discussion is showing – so thanks RiotAct. One day misogyny will be as unacceptable as racism in any context. That’s one area where the United States is way ahead of our game.

The RiotACT guidelines – you should read them sometimes, specifically … “however our most important principle on RiotACT is civility. We’re well aware that the anonymity of online conversation has lured people into being much ruder than they’d dare to be in person. So the principle here is not to say anything you wouldn’t say face to face”
So…you still think it’s OK to use the term ‘wrinklies’ in your post? If someone is elderly, then it’s fair enough to call them elderly – but ‘wrinklies’ is subjective and highly derogatory.

I am not sure about a good mental health professional in Canberra for Bi-Polar.
However I have read quite a bit about Omega 3 Fatty Acids from Fish Oil being quite effective for Bi-Polar Depression, and not so much for Mania. Here is a link to the latest meta-analysis by Sarris et al from the University of Melbourne on the topic: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21903025
There is quite a bit of information out there that the purified or much higher ratio Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) might offer stronger results than the combined EPA 180 mg /Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 120 mg formulas that you can find in any health food shop or pharmacy in Australia (EPA and DHA apparently compete for absorption). Products like VegEPA and Bioceuticals’ Pure EPA Max Strength are available in Australia.
Given that Fish Oil is considered such a healthy substance for the body (for example for the heart), I would definitely recommend taking it regularly for any Bi-Polar sufferer. Experimentation with the amount taken and the specific ratios of ingredients should enable the individual to work out what works best for them. One might find that regular intake of oily fish might be enough for them to get the ‘Fish Oil effect’ – just taking the edge off depression and decreasing one’s emotional reactivity. Also, long term, Fish Oil needs to be taken with a good antioxidant – Vitamin E in mixed Tocopherol form will protect from excessive oxidation.
Another interesting nutraceutical for Bi-Polar looks to be Uridine. A formulation of Uridine, RG2417, is being studied by the drug company Repligen for the disorder. It is available online from overseas – as Uridine Monophosphate and Triacetyluridine. Interestingly it seems to synergise well with Omega 3 Fatty Acids. See this thread for some people’s results with Uridine: http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/51802-gpc-choline-uridine-dha/
I wouldn’t recommend taking Uridine without being very careful as it is a pretty new supplement, but something like Fish Oil (in its various forms) should be useful long-term for anyone with any kind of mental instability.
Cheers,
SM.

It is possible that a scientific expert might be able to add to your clearly vast knowledge on the subject.
I have been around a lot longer than these carpet-bagging “climate” scientists Jethro and I have not experienced any of the changes they claim are happening.
The spin they are now using is insulting the intelligence of people like me; for example:
– “global warming” (which isn’t happening) has now become “climate change” even though climate by definition is something that changes all the time
– the failure of devastating drought predications have now been blamed on “climate variability” which appears to be a new sub-category of “climate change”
– observable human-induced climate change commenced when impressionable dim-witted, Al Gore mesmerised governments, under instruction from the IPCC started bankrolling “climate” scientists.
Then we have our own CSIRO claiming they are able to measure the composition of air 800,000 years ago? Give me a break!
– the problem predicting “extreme weather events” using “climate models” is a non-problem because (extreme) weather (events) will happen today, tomorrow, just as it has from the beginning of time.
– there is no evidence of permanent rising of sea levels due to anything (including “climate change”) yet subsidence of land masses on tectonic plates is an ongoing thing the same as silting up of the estuaries of rivers due to land degradation in catchments.
My “vast knowledge” is limited to facts only; that’s all that should matter for a world that has greater problems to deal with e.g., over population, aged care, etc.
Subsequently, I don’t have any capacity to absorb the tax-payer funded computer modelled spin masquerading as science.

now that we have four threads about the same bit of road(!), might be time to start a new thread on alternative ways to get to the coast.
a summary of the road conditions and what to avoid would be useful, and maybe even a link in google maps

Not to mention his pedophile activities with under age girls
Um, can we get a source on this claim. I couldn’t find anything to back this up and that’s a very serious accusation.
If it’s true and verifiable, then I certainly hope they rip up that monument to him in the pavement near the cafe.
You’ll probably find that was an attempt at satire, and since the best satire is indistinguishable from reality, it seems to have succeeded
I note Stevian continuing his tradition of silly postings on RA.
When the issue of Gus was raised previously on RA, someone posted that Gus had maintained a sexual relationship with a then 13 year old girl who was close to her. When her parents went to the authorities they were told not to bother pursuing the case because “it is Gus and nobody will believe you”.
That’s all the proof I need.
I concede, you win. My posts may be silly (though I honestly don’t see it) but yours takes the prize for sheer stupidity
