Call me cynical if you wish, but theories with no solid evidence get filed in the bullshit basket.
For a sceptic, you’re pretty flexible with proof.
You want proof? Then start here: http://www.findingdulcinea.com/news/technology/2009/June/What-Really-Happens-to-Recycled-and-Donated-Electronics.html
I see no “proof” there just scaremongering.
My goodness, you are angry today.
I admit to being a cynic and perhaps a sceptic but I will leave the scaremongering to you and your climate alarmist mates. I am now going for a walk wearing my tin-foil hat that HenryBG put me on to. |

JB, there’s still nothing regarding these on the rego.act.gov.au website. Where did you get these images and info from? I’m keen to try and find pricing details.

If you’ve half a mind to make it along to Mikelangelo and the Tin Star tonight (Friday) at the ANU Bar (with Fun Machine, Konrad Lenz and Alice Cottee) — that’s more than enough.

Probably when he was younger a Library Sciences major refused to go out with him, and now he’s reacting to his/her good taste by lashing out. |

Sounds like Zed has conveniently forgotten what his own party’s plans are for the APS.
Of course he has, the entire Liberal Party is speaking hypocritically. Judging by the sound bites, most of the responses were written long in advance of he budget and with little regard for the actual budget details.
Those familiar with political history should see this is 1972-75 all over again. And just like that period, Labor will lose, Libs will get in, and promptly look like fools making the same mistakes and going back on what they’ve said.
Voters should probably stop caring about this government, and even the next one, and start thinking who on the benches is going to take over after that. Gillard > Abbott > ???s |

”
Of course if Thumper wishes to not grapple with the issue of anti-science lunatics telling lies, he can continue with his tone-trolling. It’s an admission of sorts.
You’re the gift that keeps giving aren’t you?
Once again I’ll ask where, exactly, did I say I disagree with the science? Where exactly did I talk about the stone age? Where exactly did I say that I don’t believe in climate change? Where exactly did I suggest anything?
Exactly where? Come on? Exactly where?
Oh, that’s right, I didn’t.
You’re the one foaming at the mouth when anyone dares to question anything you say.
I disagree with the carbon tax. That’s my perogative dickhead. I don’t need sanctimonious knobs like you to tell me what to think.
Go back and read what you have written. In fact, go back and look at pretty much everything you have ever written on RA. Do you talk like this to everyone? Every day? Do you simply abuse anyone that doesn’t agree with you?
Seriously man, you don’t have to be a complete fuckwit every day.
Here, I’ll give you a tip. People of all walks of life get on because they show something called tolerance. Read up on it.
Go ahead, spew some more abusive bile, it’s very entertaining for the readers, especially as they are laughing at you.
By the way, worked out that jury duty thing yet? Or are you still too important to contribute to the society you live in? |

By agreeing with you that Monfries should be let off and not punished as he has a mental illness and a poor childhood and it was society who are to blame.

I don’t really understand why this original post got through Johnboy’s editorial standards.
The first suggestion, that ACTEW was added by government to a ‘dirty list’ because Canberra is a safe seat makes no sense at all. The way the list works, and this is all public, is mostly to use prior NGERS reporting by organisations of their emissions, add an emissions threshold value and then list the entities above the threshold. That’s it. Nothing more.
If you look at the LEPID list, you’ll see that there are a lot of energy (electricity & gas) and water utilities on it. Again, no surprises there, as these organisations use a lot of energy and generate a lot of emissions. In the case of the water utilities, the story includes both energy use and emissions from wastewater.
I don’t follow the link with lighting for Manuka Oval at all.
And then the final comment, that somehow because ACTEW/ACTEW AGL is on the top emitters list (which is not a surprise), this will mean there will be additional, surprise costs for those on average incomes. This also does not make sense.
So a suggestion to the Riot Act managers: don’t publish gibberish like this. If there is a nugget of an issue glinting away below the paranoia and crank of posts you get from people like I-filed, rewrite a post about just that issue. For example, you could have done a quick post that noted ACTEW was on the list of top emitters, looked at projections for cost increases under the carbon price for Canberrans, and asked what readers thought about this. |
